Kate's Sweet 16!! :o

As hard as it is to believe, Kate turned 16 this month! I would have loved to have thrown her a super sweet 16 party like those seen on MTV... but our family budget just doesn't quite have room for elaborate venues and caterers :) We celebrated this special day surrounded by friends and family. Taylor and Kelsey were in charge of decorating and Kate planned the menu- Enchiladas with the Mexican themed spread. For dessert, she chose angel food caked topped with fresh strawberries and whip cream. Stange combination, but it seemed to work :) We wanted to get Kate something special and unique to mark this day.. her class ring seemed to fit. Unfortunately, it was a special order and wasn't here in time for her birthday. So not wanting her to be empty handed, she was treated with a new cell phone too :) I'm not sure what she was more excited about! The evening was so special... Kate- I am sooo incredibly proud of you! It is amazing how much you have grown and matured these past few years. I admire your spirit and heart. I am honored to be your momma! :) xoxoxo

Grandma's Bread- Easter 2010

Thank goodness for my mom! She is the heart of our family and a wonderful creator of traditions for us all to share. This Easter proved no different as we were all treated to her "Grandma's Bread". The story behind this special bread represents family, tradition, friendship, Church, Easter, and the Eucharist. Easter Bread is a symbol of the Body of Christ: source of unity, new life and shared love. What a blessing to be able to spend the day together over an amazing meal and celebrate the resurrection of Christ! Thank you mom for always bringing the "traditions" to our family. <3 Colleen
