Kate and Hannah had their annual Queen's Ball for Jobies last night. All of the jobie girls get together with the Demalay (young boys group) for a fun chaparoned night of dancing and good food :) The girls had a blast getting ready, and I must admit, I find such happiness in seeing the two of them developing such a sister bond. Kate did Hannah's hair (she is so good with that kind of stuff!) and helped her accessorize ;) Carter manged to do his hair during all of the getting ready chaos... I'm still not sure what exactly it is that he put in his hair :/

Celebrating Carter's First Day of Preschool!
Carter started Preschool today and I'm not sure who this was harder on :/ We started the morning off a little rocky because Carter was pretty sleepy from staying up too late the night before. We've all been trying hard over the past few weeks to get him excited for this new adventure, but he wasn't buying any of it. He wanted to go to "Hannah's school" instead. After a little coaxing from Robin, his new teacher, mom and Carter were able to seperate for the day.(First heart melting into a big puddle moment) I called about an hour after I had left (that's not too neurotic right? ;) ) and he was doing much better. Apparently he suffered a few "meltdowns" initially, but was all smiles by 10am. I picked him up a little early and he greeted me with "Mom, I'm sooo glad your home!" and hugged me tighter than ever. (Second heart melting into a big puddle moment) To celebrate his first day of school, we headed to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone. After taking a few bites of his chocolate dipped kiddie cone, he asks me, "how was your day at work?" (Third heart melting into a big puddle moment) All in all, we both survived and I think this will be a wonderful adventure for him, meanwhile I'll be putting my melted heart back together :)
A New Family Member....
As if life wasn't crazy enough in the Jacobsen household, we've added to it :) The kids have really been wanting a pet lately and after some thought, we opted to adopt a kitten from the Humane Society. I've gone the puppy/dog route.. and while I totally love dogs and sweet puppy noses, they are just too much work for this busy mom. I made one mention that maybe a cat would work.. and poof there was one here the next day:) I think the kids were afraid I would change my mind and didn't give me any chance at that. Kate and her dad went to look and found the sweetest cat. He is ten months old and has been given the name "Oreo" for obvious reasons :) He loves to snuggle with Hannah and tries his best to tolerate Carter's affections. This includes Carter dragging him all over the house, loving on him (aka smothering) and insisting that Oreo goes wherever Carter goes. The kids have done great helping out with all the responsiblities and Carter has a new best buddy :)

A Little Something to Share....

So the last few weeks have been a little stressful at work for a variety of reasons. I came home on Friday just exhausted and frustrated :/ I checked my email that evening and found the sweetest little saying from Hannah. It was exactly what I needed.. that little gentle reminder of the important things and forgetting all of the "static". I just wanted to take this time and say thank you so much to all of my wonderful friends and family- Thank you for enriching my life and always being there.
'Life is too short to wake up in
the morning with regrets, so love
the people who treat you right,
forget about the ones who don't,
and believe that everything
happens for a reason. If you get a
chance, take it. If it changes
your life, let it... Nobody said
life would be easy, they just
promised it would be worth it.'
